Networking is the secret sauce to growing your business fast. It’s something we all do naturally. But what if you started networking more strategically?

Consider all the events and conferences you attend each season. Whether it’s a 1- day workshop or 3- day event, you probably attend at least 1 event every season.

If you don’t, you will want to start planning to attend more after reading this…

This week’s tip is all about Maximizing Your Next Networking Event.

There’s no point in attending these events if all you’re going to do is sit there and soak up hours of information and never do anything with it. These events can be great for more than just the content, but also for the connections, clients, and cash you can make while you’re there!

Here are 5 Soulful Sales Tips you can use to Maximize Your Next Networking Event:

Make A Friend.

Be deliberate about connecting with other attendees before the event and during breaks. You can learn a lot about a person in a short period of time just by getting curious about who they are, complimenting them, and asking great questions. Then naturally, they’ll want to learn more about you.

Exchange Contact Info.

Whether you have business cards or not, you can still exchange contact info just as fast. With technology, there are now apps that allow you to scan cards straight to your mailing list (makes it easy to follow up).

But if that’s too much, here’s a tip: save your own contact info, expert title and picture in your cell phone as a contact. Then ask for their number and send them your contact info and picture via text. Just like that, you’re connected! No excuse for misplacing a business card ever again or forgetting what that person actually looked like.

Ask Questions.

At every event, there will always be a team there for support. Even if it’s just one person. Befriend that person. Get to know more about them and their role. This is a great way to find out about systems the host used to run the event. Who knows, you just might be able to use those same systems in some area of your business.

Follow Up.

Before you leave for the event, have time scheduled on your calendar to follow up with people after the event. If you schedule the time out before you go, you will attend with the intention and expectation that you’ll be meeting ideal people to connect with once you return.

Get More Information.

The best part about meeting people and making new connections is that this person knows something you don’t know. Find out what that is. See if you have mutual networks. Find out what city they live in. Ask what other events they plan on attending throughout the year and see if it fits your interests.

Events are great for networking and making new connections with a lot of people in a short period of time. I’ve been doing this for the past 20 years and many of those connections I’ve made over time have played a large part in my business, partnerships, and even clients.
